Copper 9 had no sentient life left, thanks to the humans. AI doesn't exactly flourish, either. The worker drones are constantly under the threat of death, thanks to the murder drones, who were sent to kill every last one of them.
But after Lucifer Morningstar, a seemingly ordinary worker, gets to know a murder drone after an accident, he learns that there's more to this than they thought.
