In the future, and set to the backdrop of hopepunk conflicts and galactic space-orgies, a group of Terrans called The Acolytes have taken to the stars to find a suitable new home so they can live in peace. Their scientific, moral, and sexual customs have become so different from the rest of Terra that they have decided to build the starship Gaia in the hopes that somewhere in the galaxy they will find their fortune. What they find, however, is a new world already populated by the Kallosians, a race of aliens whose physiology challenges the Terrans to take the next leap in their own evolution, and in saving the Kallosians from destruction, the Terrans discover their true purpose.
