Dazai once asked Chuuya what it felt like, when Corruption takes over.
“It hurts,” he’d said. “Burns all over. I used to panic a little, cause I know there’s nothing I can do to stop it until it’s over.”He holds his wrist out over Chuuya’s mouth, the blood gathering and bowing off his broken skin. Chuuya wraps his hands around Dazai’s arm and drags the cut to his mouth. Dazai gasps when he sucks at it like a vampire.
It can’t amount to the pain, the blood loss, everything his love endured for him. It’s much too meagre a payment for that. But at least he can offer some of his own pain, his own blood, in return. It’s hardly atonement, but, perhaps it’s reciprocation—a sufficient offering. Anything that brings him closer to knowing Chuuya’s pain, oh it pleases him.Series

It was one of those days where Chuuya felt a little more exhausted than usual. After Dazai’s departure from the port mafia, he found himself increasingly taking on more work beyond what he could handle. He discovered that pushing himself to the bone helped him repress Arahabaki to the darkest recceses of his mind. There was little more he cherished.
He just wanted a way to escape the nightmare that threatened at fracturing his skull, that worked at tormenting him day by day, prying and plucking at his insecurities until his body felt more like a vessel than human.
In short, an alternate reality where Chuuya is suicidal.
