She bit back a smile. “Fitz, that’s ridiculous.”

Fitz pinched the bridge of his nose.
They had said they were out. He hadn’t hallucinated that. They had sat in front of the team and told them all that they were out, and four months had passed since then and, as far as he was aware, they still hadn’t gone back to being SHIELD agents. Did it mean he never wanted to hear from the others again? Of course not. Did it mean he wanted them calling to check in every time there was a situation? He felt that went without saying.
