James was a little caught off guard when those round hazel eyes fell on him. They didn’t break eye contact and James realized appearance wise the child didn’t look like Snape at all.
Besides, the fox traits no one would be able to tell they were father and son. When he was out of his head, James heard the child speak, “Papa…a bunny”. That was when Severus also looked behind, as if he just remembered the existence of James. “Who is that, papa?” the child asked in a curious voice.
Severus’ response came sharp, slicing the tender moment into pieces, “He’s nobody”James Potter, last one from his pure blood rabbit linage gets instituted into a breeding plantation ran by none other than his arch nemesis.

James Potter is a romantic. He has always been obsessed with the idea of soulmates, and going into Hogwarts was a wonderful opportunity to find his. James is ready to kiss every single girl in Hogwarts if it means finding the person that was made for him. When convinced that Lily is his soulmate, she reveals she will only go out with him if he befriends Severus, the same person he has bullied for years.
Severus just wants to get through his life at Hogwarts, and home, without any problems. Is that too much to ask? And no, he does not trust James' attempts at being friends, but he goes along with it anyways.

Summary
James Potter never expected to find Severus Snape serving coffee in a small café in New York City.
After an accident, Severus lost all memory of his former life. With no recollection of magic, Hogwarts, or James, he rebuilt his life as an ordinary Muggle.
