    “Tim,” Dick interrupted with a whisper, “out loud. Read the name out loud to me. Please.”

    Call it paranoid, but Dick needed to know he wasn’t making this up. That he wasn’t stupidly hallucinating a name that wasn’t actually there.

    Tim swallowed, his grip on the card tightening. “Jason Peter Todd-Wayne,” he read, with obvious difficulty. Dick let out a startled laugh as he straightened up. He ran a frantic hand through his hair. “Fuck. Fuck!”

    Tim stared at him. “This is… Jason’s old library card,” he pointed out and Dick nodded, perhaps a bit too fast.

    Jason loses his old library card while on patrol as the Red Hood. He thinks nothing of it, as Jason Peter Todd-Wayne is legally dead to the world. In hindsight, he should have been worried, because his family are fucking detectives.

    Or: How a lost library card ruins all of Jason's big reveal plans; and reconnects him with his brothers somewhere along the way.

    The day Clark got called into Dick’s school while Bruce had some kind of big time meeting out of town had been another case.

    “You’re crying.”

    That’s the Red Hood, standing in the doorway into the hall, a hulking figure filling the frame, head tilted in question and hands on a gun that’s pointed to the floor. He looks uncertain, head tilted to the side like a goddamn bird.

    “What?” Tim asks, because Tim is confused– he knows this is Jason Todd, kinda hard to miss with the red helmet and when the dude tried to blow up Dick and Bruce about a week earlier in the same outfit, but what the actual fuck is he doing in San Francisco–

    “You’re crying.” Red Hood repeats, forgoing a one handed grip on his weapon to gesture to his– well– his everything.

    Tim moves his hand up to his cheeks because he is definitely not crying over something as stupid as his dinn–

    Huh.

    Okay.

    Maybe he is.

    Tim and Jason make food, drink and talk about parents. Jason was meant to kill this kid, but plans have a way of being derailed.
