Summary
Simon is the new history teacher at Grover Cleveland Middle and he likes his job. A lot. It's fun teaching the kids and it's nice being able to adapt to civilian life. The only hiccup is the science teacher next door.

“Please,” he continues when Simon doesn't respond. “I-I need permission.”
Simon closes his eyes. It's his own type of silent defiance. If this man isn't just fucking with him – if he does, for some strange reason, feel bad or guilty about capturing him, then good. Let him drown in it.
Simon is captured by a compulsive liar who, bafflingly, gives him food, smiles at him, and pretends the Quiet Rapture never happened.
Grace saves the life of a violent human who seems to be under the terrifying delusion that every star and planet has disappeared without a trace.

Ryland Grace has it all. His own house on the beach of his biodome, friends, a class to teach, and even a - situationship? Friend with benefits? Traumatized space stranger who he does kinky collar-based things with sometimes?
The point is, he's totally happy and fine. Never mind the nightmares that leave him sweating and shaking. Never mind the way sometimes his mind is jerked back to his last day on Earth. Out on parole and down an arm, Simon's chances of landing a legal, steady paycheck grow slimmer by the day. When his parole officer plants the idea of becoming a blood and plasma donor in his head, it leads him into the dark corridors of the City Under the City - and directly to Dr. Ryland Grace, a vampire who lives under a museum.
