    Summary

Antonio seeks comfort in the arms of his neighbour (no, not that neighbour, the other one) who is all too happy to hit the final nail in the coffin that is Antonio and João’s marriage. After everything is said and done, Antonio contemplates his last moments with his husband before he departs for Brazil. “I’ve spent months sick with longing,” João exhaled, anger tight in his throat, “but now that I’m here I can’t stand it." In short, the beginning of the end of the Iberian Union.

    Summary

For Antonio and João, the history of the Iberian Peninsula is not written in ink, but in the scars on their skin and the shared breath between their borders.

From the moment they were boys under the shadow of Rome to the long, suffocating years of the dictatorships, their lives have been defined by the tension between the need to dominate and the desperate reach for independence. For millennia, they navigated their bond through the only language they were ever permitted to learn: a series of violent collisions where sex and war served as the only form of communication they knew. A crude substitute for a truth they were too occupied to speak.

But as empires crumble and the world grows cold, the violent collisions of the past begin to give way to a quiet, newfound understanding. No matter how far they grow or how much they change, they carry each other intertwined within, all the way down to the root.

Title inspired by Natalia Lafourcade's 'Hasta la raíz'.

    Summary

Around 1802-1803, Beethoven wrote his 3rd symphony in the hope of drawing the attention of a man he idolised at the time as a figurehead of the French Revolution: the young First Consul Napoleon Bonaparte.
Beethoven never actually sent his symphony to Bonaparte and never went to Paris, because Napoleon crowned himself emperor before the symphony was completed, betraying Beethoven's ideals of equality for mankind.

Now, what if Beethoven had finished the symphony in time to send it to Bonaparte long before the crowning?
What if he had been invited to Paris to be offered the position he dreamed of?
What if he had met, in fact, that man he considered to be the egery of a new era?

What would have happened between them in those short months between their meeting and the Sacre, in 1804?

(Beethoven would beat me to a pulp for this, but fortunately for me he doesn't read French. Also he's dead. Pfew.)

Months after returning to the real world, an accident sends Arisu back to the Borderlands to face a new round of death games. No Karube and Chota. No Usagi. No friends at all. This time, Arisu is on his own.

    Except perhaps he isn't.

Because one person never left at all.
