Summary
No words are exchanged among the onlookers as the Sea Snake pulls his wife into a fierce embrace with a fervent urgency, pressing her flat against his chest in a desperate kiss. Without a word, he pulls her towards the castle, the raw, unspoken connection between them palpable. Those who witness the scene remain silent, having long been familiar with the intense and unrestrained affection between their Lord and Lady.

Summary
“Mrs. Velaryon?” The voice on the other end is unfamiliar, yet the fact that the caller knows her name suggests that, unfortunately, they haven’t dialled the wrong number. Calls at this hour, as her experience has often shown, rarely bring good news.
“Yes?” Rhaenys’ response is thick with sleep, but her mind is already beginning to shake off the remnants of her slumber, working much more efficiently than it was just a few minutes ago. She sits up in bed, pushing the heavy, quilted covers off her legs, and rubs her eyes with the back of her hand, willing herself to fully wake up.
“It’s Dr. Montgomery from the central Driftmark Hospital,” the voice continues, a note of urgency underlying the professional tone. “I’m calling to inform you that your husband was brought in after a car accident. He is now out of surgery.”
