Summary
“Can’t…” Shane breathes out, the overwhelming scent of Ilya taking away all of his dignity. “Can’t focus,” he admits quietly.
“Tell me one word,” Ilya instructs, soothing Shane by brushing his knuckles against his cheek.
Shane melts into the gentle touch. “Breed…”
“What?” Ilya leans down to him, even though Shane is sure he heard him.
“Breed my pussy,” he whispers more firmly.
When Shane Hollander notices his husband’s body growing into its natural size, all he can think about is being bred.

Recognition clicks in Ilya’s head like a switch. “Baby,” he whispers, loosening his steel grip. “What’s wrong? You need me to take care of you?” he asks, tone going soft.
Shane nods hurriedly, tears from embarrassment beading at his lashes.
“Tell me in words.”
“Please—” Shane whimpers.

No matter the trope.
No matter the universe.
No matter the setup.
They find each other. He rolled over, already thinking about which train he should catch to head home when he came face to face with–
– a child.
“AH!” Ilya squeaked, more high-pitched than he would ever admit. Her eyes widened at the undignified noise, but she didn’t say anything, nor did she back away. She was probably… six? Seven? Hell, Ilya was terrible at guessing kids’ ages. She had black hair, pulled up in pigtails, and very pretty brown eyes. She was holding a stuffed cat that looked well-loved in her arms. It seemed to be missing an eye. She gave him a once-over and suddenly Ilya felt like he was being inspected.
Suddenly remembering that he was only wearing underwear, Ilya pulled the covers up to his chin. “Um. Hello,” he said.
“Why are you in Dad’s bed?”

"Don't you have other tables?"
"I do," Ilya agreed.
"But?"
Ilya considered lying, or deflecting, or any of the other things he was perfectly capable of doing. He was good at this, at keeping things light and at not showing his hand.
"You have a really good face," he said instead.
The man blinked. Then, slowly, his cheeks began to flush a very light, dusky pink in a way that was entirely at odds with how composed he'd seemed all evening, and Ilya felt something click into place in his chest like a key turning.

Shane Hollander ✅ @shanehollanderofficial
I’ve seen many publications over the years speculating on my own, and my husband’s, hockey stats and accolades in relation to our romantic relationship and when the public assumes it started. We don’t owe this to anyone. But we’ve also been playing professional hockey for seventeen years and we’ve both run out of ahem, cares to give.
On the right is a photograph from the behind the scenes of our joint CCM advertisement in July of 2010. This photo predates the hundreds of combined accomplishments listed on the left.
Oh, and it was also taken about six hours before our first kiss.

or; a year from retirement and out of fucks to give, shane reveals their timeline to twitter in response to the latest speculatory article on their relationship. hollanovs across the world rejoice, centaurs celebrate their beloved dads, and former teammates share the not-so-subtle clues they missed the first time.

David Hollander 🏒 @teamhollander24
Shane asked me once, many years ago, the best way to show (his new girlfriend, at the time) that he cares. I said you can never go wrong with flowers. I’ve never seen their kitchen counter without a bouquet of flowers for Ilya.Your last few tweets about being single are maybe not the best evidence of your own romanticism, Lizzie...

Summary
Ilya thinks he plays hockey. Why else would he be in Canada? Why would he befriend a hockey star, Shane Hollander? Ilya must be an MLH hockey player. And a good one, too, if he's still in Canada, some ten years after being drafted. He guesses Shane is his teammate, they are friends, close friends probably, and Yuna loves him so much that he is like a second son. She cried at his hospital bed and everything. He has a family here, in Canada. Ilya Rozanov, at twenty-eight, is a very lucky man.
Or: Ilya wakes up to find out that all his dreams came true.

"So what's wrong?" Ilya asks again, refusing to let it go.
"I miss you," Shane says, voice small and broken, sounding guilty like he is confessing a sin.

“Rozanov,” he said carefully, “everyone on this team has known you’re in love with him for years.”
Ilya’s head snapped up immediately. “I am not in love with Hollander.”
Hayden gave him a flat look. “I didn’t even say his name.”
