Summary
Severus Snape was left alive after the attack of Nagini but there is little more to say about his current state. Paralyzed from his neck down and mute, thought mad by the healers who mistreated him.
Minerva McGonagall however refuses to give up on her old student and friend. She finds another survivor of Voldemort who may be just the person Severus needs.
She, however, has scars of her own to deal with. Will they be able to find comfort in each other? Will Severus Snape be able to go back to some resemblance of the man he used to be?

“Yes,” she whispers, a divide she won’t be able to uncross, fingers gripping the fabric in her hands so tightly that they begin to go numb.
“Take it off,” he urges. “Show Moony what belongs to him.”
And so she does.

Summary
Remus Lupin reluctantly returns to Hogwarts as the new defense against the dark arts professor. Where he, on the eve of a full moon shockingly discovers that Hermione Granger is his mate. Feeling an intense urge to protect while also unwilling to accept that which is true, Remus must learn to navigate life with a soulmate he feels undeserving of yet constantly drawn to.
Meanwhile, Hermione deals with her own confusing emotions towards her charming werewolf professor. Why does she feel drawn to him? Why does she trust him? Only time will tell...
As the two soulmates navigate life through the uprising of Voldemort lots of twits and turns ensue as the two strangers turned friends turned eventual lovers discover that a mate-bond might not be the worst thing that's ever happened to them.
PSA: Remus harbors absolutely no romantic inclinations towards Hermione until she is of age. Nothing happens between them until Hermione is of age and has some dating experience under her belt.

“Tea, Severus?” She asked, reaching for the floral bowl that held a towering pile of sugar cubes. She used silver prongs to drop two of them into her teacup; thrilled at her ability to do so, before absently spotting at the tea that sloshed over the side. She hadn’t been able to grasp the prongs days before, her hand too unsteady.
She hadn't been able to hide it before Severus had added another bitter phial to her medicine. "One for your control," He'd said, making no further comment on her weakness; something she appreciated. He never made her feel weak; not when he took her flailing arm, without a word, and led her to the shower, and toweled her off after; briskly, before kissing her soundly, as if she were a normal, whole woman. He could be kind, kinder than anyone knew; in his own understated way.
AU | Hermione saved Severus during the war and suffers devastating effects because of it. Now, Severus saves her in turn.
