    “The other company won’t do a good job?” Tsuyu asks.

    Uraraka rolls her eyes. “The other company contracts quirkless people. Can you believe that?”

    Izuku's mouth goes dry. he feels like a wave has just washed over him. His ears feel muffled, his skin clammy.

    Red from burns on his skin. Red from the humiliation burning on his cheeks as his teacher told him to stop provoking, stop, stop, stop. Feel nothing. Do nothing. Say nothing. Because that's what Quirkless people deserved. They didn't deserve to feel emotion, to fight for their own survival. The burning of his teacher's Quirk, his skin red and puckered with the scars. Red of his blood splattering on his own desk as his teachers sneered at him. Classmates leaving him black and blue. His teachers laughing behind their hands— conditioning him to expect abuse from the people who were his friends. And if he couldn't trust his friends or his teachers, then he couldn't trust anyone.

     

     

     

    He couldn’t breathe. Kacchan— Bakugou Katsuki stood in the mouth of the hallway. For one blessed moment, Izuku thought that Bakugou would leave him be. Leave him alone for the first time in his life.

    “I didn’t know they let Quirkless people into UA now,” Bakugou said off-handedly.

    Midoriya and Class 1-A go to Shiketsu for a week. Dadzawa is worried for his resident Problem Child, and Midoriya's ticks and habits become far more concerning than before.
