When Izuku's quirk came in, he died. Technically. He became a skeleton with holes in his hands, and lost the ability to speak normally, instead speaking by somehiw verbalizing the wing-dings font. And then, less than a year later, he was gone. He melted into shadows, and turned into the abyss, his mind getting shattered and scattered across all of space, turning every shadow that exists in the universe into a fragment of him, and losing his ability to communicate verbally at all, instead being replaces by the ability to carve wing-dings into any surface that a shadow is on, but only when nobody is watching.
Now, ten years after that, the man who speaks in hands has had enough of his mind and soul pull themselves back together, and he now seeks to restore his body, as well.

Alastor did it. He won. He climbed to the top of the world through his own efforts and schemes, accepting no further help aside from what he had already received in the past. He stood at the pinnacle, ruling over all 3 worlds with an iron fist, no longer in fear of those above him, for there were none. No longer able to be resisted or stopped by anyone but himself. But, too late, he realized that this power, gained through these methods, had left him with nothing. Nobody to protect, nobody to entertain himself with. No companions, no allies, nobody at all.
He thought that he enjoyed being alone. He was wrong. So, filled with such unyielding sorrow despite his victory, he flees. Retreating into his mind and soul, searching desperately for a way to regain that which he had lost, that he never realized he desired in the first place. And he finds it. In the present, it's impossible. He has hurt too many people who had considered him their friend during his schemes, but that was not the case in the past. So, he casts his dominion aside and makes a desperate attempt to send himself to the past, and he succeeds.

Summary
Izuku’s quirk is a peculiar one. It’s base abilities are unknown, as it came in with greater power than it should have as a result of his naturally frail body, and nothing like it has ever been seen. Though it does work on humans, it is at it’s most powerful when used on an animal, though he has no say in when it happens.
The main function of Izuku’s quirk is to solidify bonds between Izuku and his pets. When an animal(or human) loves and is loyal to Izuku, his quirk activates, solidifying their bond by connecting their minds, and empowering the animal. It is theorized that the base quirk would have stopped at increasing the base power of the animal and forming a telepathic bond, but due to Izuku’s body being remarkably frail, his quirk evolved upon its first use, ironically not on an animal, to go further than that. Now, on top of the extreme physical boost, animals gain humanoid(anthropromorphic) forms and the mental and social capacity of a human, and humans gain the features and instincts of an animal.
