Summary
They were born Dipper and Polaris, two bodies of starlight adrift in the summer sky, twins. They slept beside one another on that first night, fitful in their incubators, wrapped in blue blankets. Their bodies were identical: the same birthmark on their foreheads, the same blood type in their tiny veins. But Polaris' eyes were so bright and steady, and Dipper's so shifty and curious, that it wasn't difficult to tell them from each other. Dipper grew up knowing he was different from Polaris, but not as different as Polaris suspected she was from Dipper.

Stan’s next shout feels more like a scream, desperate and frightened and tearing his throat on the way out: “Ford, please! Come on! Stanford, you can’t do this to me, not again—Stanford!”
Something slams into him, and he hits the deck hard. His first instinct is, naturally, to punch—but he doesn’t get that far. As soon as he tries to scramble back to his feet, a knee wedges itself into his back and two hands seize tightly on his shoulders and press him down. A low, dangerous growl reverberates around him, and he freezes. Shit. Shit.
...are there werewolves this far out on the ocean?
But when he cranes to see over his shoulder, he does not see a werewolf. Instead, he sees—

Christopher brushed his hair out of his eyes, long fingers itching at the slight movement away from the wheel.
It had only been three months since Ryan had left for NYU, but to Christopher, it felt longer. His red Chevy jostled along, the firm seat aching his already stiff back, and sweat dripped down from his forehead.
He didn’t want to admit it to Ryan, but ever since their adventure that very summer, Christopher had hated everything about cars.
