Summary
There is something amusing about how people react to the word "catastrophe." For most, it is distant, abstract – existing only in news reports or films, where the hero always survives. Reality is more prosaic. Catastrophe is when the life you carefully built crumbles because chance or fate simply wasn't on your side. All that remains is to run. Sign dubious contracts with absurd numbers of zeroes, bid your family farewell, and awaken somewhere unknown, surrounded by people discussing humanity's salvation as if it were a grocery list.
Source: me, Hikigaya Hachiman, professional loner and voluntary outcast, somehow the fiftieth candidate for Master in an organization called Chaldea. Fiftieth out of fifty. The last one. An outsider even on a list gathered to prevent the end of the world. There is a dark poetry to that, if you think about it.
But then again, one thing at a time...

Summary
This is a slow burn fic between W and Amiya that begins from the end of Chapter 8 and will go on at intermittent time points exploring the relationship between these two, how it develops, and what its various folds and nuances are. I am very interested in this both as a character study of the two characters as individuals (with my particular interpretations) and as an examination of how the relationship between these two could begin and unfold. There is no definitive end point in mind for this particular work, but I do have a number of beats that I want to hit and situations and emotions I want to explore, so thank you for being here.

Lord Bismarck Waldstein, First Knight of the Round Table, only ever had one regret. That for all that he had done, all his victories, and all his sacrifices, he had no son.
His prayer would be answered in 2001 AD, when the Federal Republic of Krugis collapsed; after having dominated the Middle East for nearly a century. As the region descended into chaos, the Empire of Iran - led by Shah Darius Ismail - called upon the Holy Empire of Britannia for aid. Britannia would save Iran from its enemies, at the price of its independence.
These events would change the world, and for none moreso than Bismarck himself. For upon the streets of Tehran, he found a young boy fighting for his life; a boy with a lion's heart, but no future. His name was Soran.
So it was that Bismarck Waldstein took an orphan boy as his son. As Alexander Waldstein, Soran would make his own future.
And the world would be changed forever.
