“Hayden felt sick as he saw Shane glance between them and his own phone in J.J.’s hand, taking in what was probably his worst nightmare playing out right in front of him. Because Hayden could see it, within seconds, the way his face closed off, went blank, like he knew exactly what was happening because he’d been dreading it for so long.
But his eyes, fuck, his eyes showed everything even as he went very still. The bone-deep profound terror was all there.
Hayden wanted everything to stop, he wanted to shove J.J. out of the room, shove himself out of this situation, shove Shane out of harm’s way.

Summary
A what if, where Hayden's accidental outing of Shane and Ilya happens while Ilya is in Russia.
“I didn’t even know I was feeling that this until today when Ilya sent me-,” Ilya. Ilya is with his niece. His niece who lives in Russia.
Suddenly, the whole world stopped. It felt like all the oxygen in the room had been sucked right out, Shane’s whole body went stiff, all the color drained from his face.
“Ilya sent you?” His dad said tentatively, sensing the rising tension.
Shane could feel the panic rising in his chest. It felt like his lungs were filling with water. The panic attack that everyone expected from the outing was now hitting, and not because he was outted, but because Ilya was. Because Ilya was outted, in Russia. Shane tried to control his breathing, squeezing his eyes shut, digging his fingernails into his palms.
“Shane, what about Ilya?” Yuna tried again, her voice calm. Steady.
“Ilya’s in Russia,” Shane croaked out, tears filling his eyes. By the time Shane opened his eyes, he could see that the color drained in the three of their faces as well.

Summary
The NHL changes the playoff format, hoping for more rivalries, more chaos, and better ratings. Instead, they accidentally create the worst possible scenario for Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov: a legitimate chance they could face each other in the Stanley Cup Final.
Naturally, Ilya responds by making a bet.
“If I win the cup this year,” he says, “then I get to kiss you in front of the entire arena.”
Shane fully expects the universe to stop them before it ever becomes a problem. The universe, unfortunately, thinks this is hilarious.
