Delightful!
I love dreams in fiction, especially if they convey something, let's say, paranormal. I think I knew early on where this was going and I loved it.The bits of introspection are chef's kiss.
She will NOT allow the man she has loved for decades to be killed. Not if she can help it. And she can.

Lovely!
Moneypenny's instrospection is a delight, it feels pretty real to the character.
And Jane cried out of a bittersweet hope of continued happiness for her friend's future just as much as she cried for the destruction of her own foolish dreams.
Oh, sweet Moneypenny.
I also appreciated how James's grief was handled, very Bond-esque, and I very much agree with their reflections about his relationship and later marriage with Tracy.
"Oh, my darling Moneypenny," he exclaimed, leaning toward her to place his head on her shoulder. "What would I ever do without you?"
→ 🥺The return of their old banter at the end warmed my heart <3
But I disagree with one thing they say: if anything he and Tracy marriage showed that James can commit to one woman. Yes, we don't know if he would have been faithful or not. Maybe at that point no, but I do believe he could very well retire and lead a "normal" life at one point (probably more likely when he's old and tired); he just needs the right woman.
...and as a moneypenny/bond shipper I know just the one who could fit the mold ;)
P.S. I'm sad Lazenby lasted only one movie :( I liked his sweeter portrayal of James and I loved his interactions with Maxwell/Moneypenny. I'm glad this story features their versions, and I totally pictured them while reading.

Sometimes Sansa wonders if it’s just the adrenaline, if it isn’t even about Jon, if anyone could be sitting in that seat and she’d feel the same watching them. It’s easy to get swept up in the emotion, to feel bold and reckless in the midst of exhilaration, high tensions, the highs and lows of a race, but then this feeling strikes her out of nowhere sometimes, even at quiet moments like this one. Her adrenaline should have spiked and come down hours ago after Jon stepped off the podium and they shared the celebratory champagne, yet she feels it coursing through her now more than ever.
No, this, whatever this is, has gone too far, and now she’s forced to admit to herself that she’s well and totally smitten... or something like that, anyway.
