Summary
He wondered if it was worth it in the end. If sitting here acting like everything was okay was something his pride should let him do, but then he remembered just how people in his standing were revered in his former pack, remembered the slow painful death his mother had gone through because of him, and that building of defiant pride inside of him slipped away in the wind. Once again he let himself fall back into the ways he was taught and once again he felt that odd tickling in the back of his throat as his eyes found the milky porcelain skin of the cousin of the Cullens.
Fighting was useless. He was taught his place a very long time ago, but that didn’t make Kate Denali any less beautiful to him.
