“You trust him,” she corrected, “but not the Wolf. And you’re smart to do so. The Wolf is wild, unpredictable, and cannot be chained. The Wolf is part of him, though, as much as your songs are a part of you and my magic is a part of me. You will, one day, need to trust the Wolf as well.”

And Jaskier does a good job of spinning it: how Geralt is decidedly canine in that he will, most likely, frequently, sometimes, occasionally, come to heel for a hot meal, a soft bed, and a bit of physical attention. But even Jaskier carefully leaves out the part that Geralt doesn't always stay, and isn't predictable when he does. After all, he's not a tame wolf.

Dettlaff touches down in the courtyard of Tesham Mutna, Regis’s blood calling to him. Smoke reforms into bone and muscle and teeth and Dettlaff opens his eyes to see the Toussaint nobility arranged before him, crossbows aimed at him from all sides.
He smells a lick of sweat drop from the captain of the guard’s ear, and he senses a soldier’s finger twitch on the trigger, but they withhold their fire.
In the middle of the battalion stands Anna Henrietta, her jewel-encrusted dress catching all of the fading light in this early evening. Next to her, in leather still smelling of combat, Rhena smiles.
Not Rhena. Syanna.

Summary
Furiosa is built sturdy, she knows that, but rangy still, from years of being backed into corners and having to fight her way out. Max, though, is solid through and through. She brackets him against the wall and boxes him in with the set of her hips, the breadth of her shoulders; he responds in kind, letting the tension he habitually carries in his hunched shoulders transmute into something banked, a power play. What he has in brute strength, she makes up in determination and fury. They’re well matched.
