    Ellie doesn't realize how scared she is of being left until she and Joel get to Jackson.

    Now she's terrified and doesn't know how to stop him leaving her. Especially when his Daughter runs up and hugs him. a daughter she didn't even know he had.

    Now she needs to make sure Joel won't leave her.
    She needs to be like Sarah, she needs to be perfect.

    An au where Sarah lives, and Ellie tries to compete with her so she won't be left by someone she cares about again. She doesn't realize that there is no competition.

    In this AU Joel still tried to kill himself because he thought Sarah died, Tommy still takes him to the medical camp with Sarah, Joel still becomes a violent shell of a man, Sarah joins the fireflies with Tommy and leaves the fireflies with him, and she cuts contact before him leading to Joel believing she'd dead. everything else is the same between the twenty-year time skip and Joel and Ellie getting into Jackson.

    These two mean a lot to me and they give me my passion to write again even though I write them out of character a lot. I love them so much and love writing them.

    Everyone was perfectly polite to him. They greeted him at the start of the shift and wished him a good 48 off when he left the station, they didn't give him dirty looks at the table and communicated about work. But Buck couldn't remember the last time someone asked him how his weekend was, involved him in a joke, or casually touched him. He couldn't remember the last time anyone touched him on purpose at all. Everyone kept a very safe distance from Buck. He wondered if they were scared he would sue them if they made a wrong move near him.

    Months after the lawsuit Buck is still on the outs with the 118. He is lonely and touch-starved. After a minor injury at work Buck goes home alone, spiralling about his life and how he misses his family. Then Eddie shows up at his door to talk.

    It could have been worse. But someone should tell Buck’s spiked adrenaline–his racing heart–his shaking hands. He spent too long in the not knowing. Since this hospital two states away had called him to tell him that Eddie was in an accident, that he was in emergency surgery, that they couldn’t tell him any more details until he got here. That he was the only person listed on Eddie’s emergency contacts list.

    And that last bit–that last little revelation–that extremely baffling piece of information that had left him scrambling to LAX for a flight he was certain he would miss–calling Christopher from the Uber to tell him, again, that his dad is in the hospital–well, it certainly didn’t help this confused, desperate reeling.
