There was a strange creature among their ranks. The body was similar to a sheep in a way, though taller, stronger, and with a fine coat of hair rather than wool. Its face was long, more similar to a Loftwing’s beak perhaps, than the short muzzle of a sheep, and with dark eyes that spoke of a certain intelligence, a certain lack of fear, a certain sentience, even.
The young man they called The Rancher said that it was known as a horse, a mare, and that her name was Epona.Deep in the Hyrulian Historical Archives, in one of it's earliest collections, exists a simple wooden carving of a horse. For years, scholars have debated its origins, its meaning, and how such an accurate depiction of the creature came to be, in a time when no Hylian had seen one in thousands of years . . .

"Link woke to a pair of hands pressed against his chest, shaking him gently awake. He saw Zelda leaning over him: her eyes wide, and her face pale even in the stark morning light. The sheets of their bed slipped off her shoulder and onto the floor below.
He swallowed. “...What?”
Her breath shuddered, her long hair blowing from her face, and she said:
“I had a dream.”
The earth shook, the house rattling like parchment drums.
The sky had begun to fall."

This is the tale of the first hero's fall and imprisonment, a slightly too ambitious prequel to the Skyward Sword manga in which Link is a doomed prophet falling somewhere between Cassandra, Moses, Achilles, Hamlet and Greta Thunberg, with lots of gratuitous worldbuilding and fly-off-my-pants politics. And dramatic speeches.
