Summary
It’s difficult to make a life in a world where your kind—your entire species—are slaves. Where you’ve only heard of Earth in stories, and independence is a pretty fairy tale. Where the only kind of freedom you can know is dying on your own terms.
But when you have nothing to live for, you find yourself someone to die for. Someone you never thought you’d end up having tangled fates with, but the gods saw it fit to throw you a bone.
They wouldn’t make it easy though, of course. An alien, the very species enslaving your kind, was the only way out for you. There would be risks, danger, death. But wouldn’t it be worth it, to have what you always wanted? To know not just freedom, but peace, security, happiness?
What will you have to do to get it? And will your savior be as willing—or decide the cost is too steep to seek his own ambitions? Will he relent that clan must come first, tradition upheld, and a human must stay a slave? Or can you both become symbols of change?
[this is an original work set in the predator universe. There is no strict timeline for when the story takes place

Ramattra said nothing for a moment. Then, the modest prelude of a chuckle began echoing from his chest, before quickly overflowing into booming laughter loud enough to make his shoulders shake. When he finally looked back at you after it died down, you were staring at him with eyes wide as saucers.
“You are quite a confident human.”
You blinked at him once, and then your face relaxed into a grin. “So you’ve said.”
After a fraught first meeting, you, an engineer employed by Overwatch, find yourself increasingly more entangled with the reclusive leader of Null Sector.
Neither of you are what the other expects.

At the Shambali Monastery, it is customary for everyone to lend a hand. Human residents and Omnics work together, and tasks are distributed fairly. Unfortunately, this gives you and Ramattra a headache, because what are you - the monastery's cook - supposed to do with a grumpy Ravager as your kitchen assistant?

"I am not without my faults." When you catch up with Ramattra, his voice is less cold than before. You feel a little sorry for calling him arrogant - it's not like he chose kitchen duty. And to be honest, he'd probably be better off in the archives! "But I think it's an exaggeration to call me arrogant."
"We all have to work on ourselves a lot," you agree. "And we have to do things we don't like. But let's be honest -" You give him a sideways glance, which he deftly ignores. "Sometimes you think you're better than the rest of us, don't you?"
"I-" At first he seems to miss the soft, playful undertone in your voice, but then he relents. "Like I said, I'm not without my faults."
