Summary
Canon Divergence where Ricky never shot Izzy, and Stede stayed on the Revenge to Captain with Izzy as (one) of his First Mates. Sort of a character study, where I wanted to put Izzy in Situations and it rather grew a life of its own. This fic is all about hurt/comfort tropes and bonding with Izzy, the crew, Stede, and Ed.

Summary
He knew he couldn’t stay out on deck forever, knew any moment now someone would find him knelt on his hands and knees as if he were worshipping the sails above him. He knew he needed to move. Dragging himself to his feet, somewhat unstable, he cursed himself for somehow not managing to even stand straight on deck after those two had had their hands on him. Before he could ponder that thought any longer, he was taking himself down to his own cabin, into the dark and dank room, the familiarity of the sparseness and nothingness greeting him like an old friend. This would be where he stayed, sleepless, until dawn when he had an excuse to get back and resumes his duties of First Mate. Because that was his role. Not friend. Not lover. First Mate. That was his place. No amount of kind words, soft hands, caresses and kisses would change that. First Mate. Perform your duties, that is all that is required.
Edward and Stede realise there are a lot more walls to break through with Israel Hands than they initially thought.

Summary
Within hours of letting the crew take off with the Revenge, Stede and Ed aren’t coping well. To further complicate things, their attempt to talk things through gets interrupted by Izzy crawling out of the grave.
The Co-Captains and resurrected First Mate won’t be able to resist the call of the high seas, but with the British Navy after them and a crew of savvy brothel employees assisting their journey back to the Revenge, happily ever after will require a few twists and turns along the way.
As with everything that takes place during the Golden Age of Piracy, nothing goes according to plan…

Summary
Izzy Hands wasn't dead, but those bastards had definitely buried him. While he may not have had anyone waiting for him on the other side, he had some unfinished business to attend to, and a nasty hallucination that just wouldn't give him any peace of mind. The woman won't stop nagging on about his guilt! Either way, he's alive, and he's stranded with two idiots that have a lot to say about his easily aggravated self.
Oh, and he'll find out that killing actually isn't everything.

"That's right. And aren't you hungry, Izzy? Doesn't it hurt?"
"Ouroboros," Izzy says.
"Yeah. Stop chasing your tail, Iz."
"You don't need me."
"No. Could live without you. Wouldn't like it, but I could."
"I thought you were supposed to be convincing me to live." He's suddenly, violently, angry. "Doing a fucking shit job, Eddie. Did you come to rub my nose in it? Is that what this is?"
"You're missing the point, Izzy. I'm not the point."

Important to note that I’ve extended the timeline from the one that the show vaguely alludes to. The fic spans ~4 months and is caught up to S2E6.

Summary
1718. The crew think Roach has gone mad. He keeps telling them that Izzy Hands is still alive, somewhere in the back of his mind.
1818. Izzy makes toys for the children in town. The local woodcutter brings him wood, and although the townsfolk say he's crazy, Izzy finds that he doesn't really mind his company.
1918. Israel Hands comes home from the war missing a leg, and meets a particularly enthusiastic prosthetist he finds himself inexplicably drawn to.
2018. Roach moves into a dilapidated seaside cabin said to be haunted by the ghost of an old pirate. The tired old fisherman knocking on his door does look strangely familiar, but he can't quite put his finger on why. Nor do they understand why the two of them keep having vivid dreams about being buried in the ground, or why Izzy keeps wandering towards the sea in his sleep.
Perhaps this is the year they figure it out.

Christ, does Izzy know nightmares. Both his own and Edward’s. And he’s seen enough of Edward’s bad days to recognize in Bonnet the kind of self-loathing that eats away at your insides until it feels like there’s nothing left. And even though Bonnet is one of the last people Izzy wants to see, let alone talk to, he takes a step into the room.
That stupid fucking rhyme is ridiculous. But – Bonnet’s one of them. He’s Edward’s boyfriend, even if that thought makes Izzy want to jump off the side of the ship. And, damn it all, Bonnet had come to rescue them, even when it seemed impossible.
It’s not about Bonnet, though, not really. Maybe, just maybe, Izzy wants to see if he’s the kind of person – this new and improved and friend-having Israel Hands – who can provide a person with comfort. He thinks he did, with Lucius and that damn shark. And now Bonnet’s here, clearly agitated and not talking to Edward about it, and –
And maybe Izzy can help. Even just a little.
(Stede has a nightmare and finds comfort in an unlikely source. Izzy learns that maybe it isn't so bad, talking it through as a crew and taking care of each other.)
