Summary
Hermione Granger has spent years corresponding with her favorite author, a private, elusive man she has never met. What starts as admiration grows into something more intimate. Entirely coincidentally, Draco Malfoy has withdrawn completely from public life since his trial, leaving behind no trace of where he went, or who he became.
Or: a semi-epistolary short story about second chances and finding our place under the sun.

Summary
She lost her magic slowly, at first.
It started as a creeping deadness somewhere low in her abdomen.
It spread outward like necrosis into her chest and her head and her limbs. She had no recollection of when, exactly, it had begun.
~
Hermione has made a name for herself in the Order as a gifted inventor of spells. As the war careens into its seventh year, she fights to keep Harry alive by developing a potion that strengthens his magic to the detriment of his physical health. Wracked with guilt at his rapid deterioration and desperate to save his life, she risks liaising with Draco Malfoy, the head inquisitor in Voldemort’s secret police force and a talented but dangerous Legilimens. Her risk does not go to plan, and after enduring months of brutal captivity, she loses her capacity to do magic.
To her dismay, Malfoy now seems to be her only hope of regaining her former ability.
A dark, slow-burn war AU about trauma, recovery, and reclamation of feminine power

Summary
The air in the kitchen was rich with the scent of baking.
He reached around her, chest warm against her back, and set the serving spoon on the counter. For a moment they lingered there—her whisking, him solid and present. The cream was smooth and pale, catching the afternoon light.
“Perfect timing on the cake,” he murmured, lips brushing the shell of her ear.
“Is it? I feel like I just… began,” she admitted with a laugh. “But it smells right.”
“When you’re busy up here”—he tapped lightly at her temple—“time doesn’t stand a chance.”
She arched an eyebrow, fighting back a smile. “If focus could bend temporal mechanics, arithmancers would be immortal.”
“Only the clever ones who survive the paradox cascade. You’d navigate it flawlessly, of course.”
The cream had formed perfect peaks, but Hermione barely noticed. Her whisk hovered mid-air, eyes wide. Something hot and electric shot through her chest as his words sank in.
“Who are you?” she whispered in awe.
The timer chimed then, mellow and silver, harmonizing with the wind chimes.Bookmarked by Echoley
