Life is going good for Eric Bittle. It's summer, he has an exciting new job with the Providence Falconers, he's in a club celebrating with his friends, and he currently has a Canadian Adonis grinding up against his ass. Life is good.
Until said Canadian Adonis flees the morning after some mind-blowing sex, leaving behind a rubbish note. Finally, something dawns on him, a way to handle two goals simultaneously. He’d seen Hollander’s mother flipping through papers rapidly when they first got here, seeming calm and in control and more than a little frightening in a way that made Ilya mildly glad he wasn’t one of the people responsible for a clipboard. If anyone can tell him if the long list of “Prohibited Items” he’d been sent in his email a few days ago is just standard practice for big shoots, it would be Yuna Hollander.
Or, hopefully, her son.
“Crazy we cannot even have peanut butter, eh?” He asks. “You also got giant list?”
Hollander stiffens, almost imperceptibly, and Ilya tilts his head, just slightly, confused, wondering if he’s stumbled somewhere unexpected.

Summary
Three months before their first NHL game against each other, Ilya’s pheromones trigger Shane's presentation in the showers after the CCM shoot. In accompanying Shane through his heat, Ilya ends up imprinting on the omega, dulling the sweeter notes in his scent.
Shane convinces himself that it’s just sex. The scenting reinforces the imprint and helps mask his omega pheromones, acting as the last line of defense if the patches, blockers, and pills ever fail. Okay, so what if the sex is good too. Whatever.
Ilya gets an omega on his roster who he can be certain would never baby trap him. But as he gets attached to Shane, whose existence is still illegal in Russia, Shane’s overreliance on pills starts becoming too familiar…

Summary
There’s one topic, though, that they don’t address. The elephant in the room trumpeting and begging to be addressed in any capacity. They’d more than patched things up after everything happened, but there’s still a lack of clarity for Shane on what he and Ilya are to each other. They’re exclusive now, but are they dating? Is Ilya his boyfriend? Do they need to label it, or can Shane just learn to be cool for once in his life, be happy with whatever they are, and figure it out as they go?
Whatever’s going on, it’s different, and it’s thrilling. And it’s absolutely terrifying.
Or; Shane and Ilya are trying to figure out how things work between them now, while dealing with the emotional fallout of Shane’s assault.
The only problem is— they’re still really stupid when it comes to each other. Maybe that’s a good thing.
