She studied the painful pangs Benna left on her palms with that poker. The life-saving marks were shaped like a pair of uneven stars. Her reddened silver gaze was drawn in all the same. The marks had their own gravity like the words attached to them.

PLEASE NOTE: this is re-write and expansion of the original tale that I posted previously. The entire thing has been updated with nearly 30K additional words and multiple new chapters.
AU where the Northern Territories and Rosaria have been at war for a few years, with the two war Eikons, Shiva and Ifrit, as the centerpieces of battle. But what happens when their Dominants are stranded in the wilderness together? No Eikons. No political or battlefield maneuvers to guide them. They only have each other and an unexpected attraction to their greatest enemy.
While the Eikons exist, as does magic, there is no Ultima, Blight, Curse or Mothercrystals in this.

Summary
Jill hadn't intended to make new friends, she certainly hadn't intended to share their fire. In truth nothing in her life had gone how she intended. But nobody goes about planning for the collapse of one’s life in such vivid detail. Unless they were insane, or an oracle. Or both.
“So, if you’re like us and don’t belong here… why be here?” Her host asked curiously. “I understand things must not be swell. Nobody climbs the Glaives if everything’s working out.” She offered Jill her drink, there was little left but she took it all the same.
“I came here looking for someone. A woman... my mother.” Jill admitted into the flames, struggling to imagine her face. “I left her a long time ago and I promised I’d come back for her.”
Weeks after the events of Shiva's awakening in Rosilith, Jill Warrick finally returns home to reckon with everything that was taken from her.
