Buck doesn't realise what he's doing until Eddie is laying down on the floor beside him. He lies on his back, Buck still on his front, and when he turns his head to face him they are so close again. Close enough to feel every breath. To smell the taste of limes from inside his mouth.
"Hey," Buck swallows, his own mouth suddenly dry.
"Hello," Eddie smiles.

Regulus could say nothing, pretend he’s asleep. He could say it back. He could even mean it. Or he could murmur something indistinct into James’ collarbone. Or kiss him. He doesn’t do any of these things, of course. Instead, he whispers a word he knows will hurt James as much as the thought of it hurts him.
