Summary
Ed used to be a competitive ballroom dancer, now he runs a dance studio. One night he is asked to cover for the Tiny Tip Tappin Talents class, and there he meets one Alma Bonnet, as well as her handsome divorced father, Stede, who has romantic daydreams of learning to ballroom dance. Ed invites him to join one of his studio’s classes, but remembers too late his own rule about not dating students.

“You’re coming over Friday.” Ed declared confidently. Ed would get like this sometimes; declaring wacky plans with an irresistible grin on his face. Stede had yet to resist Ed’s charms — he had to know what that cheeky grin did to Stede’s insides, right? He was so in love with him it was ridiculous; Lucius once called him “as messy as a baby U-Haul lesbian” with how obvious his crush was.
If only Ed felt the same.
“I suppose I can,” Stede broke off a piece of their cinnamon roll with his fork, “what will we be doing?”

“Anyway—” Viago looks back at the camera, “—these are very weird dreams. Oddly enough, I’m always a pirate. Which is weird, because I met real pirates when I was a youngster, and they were very yucky and smelly. I never wanted to be one. Also, being a pirate was fashionable in the 17th century. Nobody seeks out that way of life anymore. I think?” He considers it for a moment. “Are there still pirates around?”

It’s Valentine’s Day, and Ed is alone.
It’s nothing unusual for him at this point, Ed’s been alone for a long time. He’s confined himself to his daily monotony: get up, go to work, come home.
The only spot of colour in his grey day is the little café at the train station, where he’s working his way through trying every baked good they offer, and he even does that alone.
Or so he thinks.
