What lingers first in Pure Vanilla’s memory are two eyes— cyan and blue.
They were not simply colors, not merely shades to be catalogued among the blossoms that lined the Vanilla hills. They were shadows caught in ice, stars buried in snow. And in the middle of all that frost, a boy who looked too small for the crown that would one day press against his brow, eyes too large for the timid boy who held them.
Pure Vanilla had not known then that love could strike so young.
He had thought it the sort of thing that bloomed late, like the orchids that only flowered when the sun coaxed them after patient months of waiting.
But with Shadow Milk, it was not coaxed— it was immediate.

Summary
Shadow Milk Cookie found that there was no reason to ever leave the premises of their shabby cabin. Really, he had no need to! With the means to do anything or be anything at his fingertips, Shadow Milk had no need to ever leave the sanctity of their house- let alone their bedroom. If he had a choice, he never would.
Alas, his obnoxious other-half had to make his opinion known about his 'avoidant' and 'reclusive' behaviors as of late- citing that, 'I worry that you are closing in on yourself. What is happening with you, Blue bird?'
He wonders what he must have looked like to the ancient. A pitiful sight, certainly, given the hesitancy Pure Vanilla spoke with and the extended hand just hovering over trembling shoulders. He must have said something in reply- witty or biting he did not know- as the ancient's brows furrowed, and before he knew it, Shadow Milk was being pulled out of bed.

Said cookie snapped back into attention, alerted gaze finding the Ancient of Light quite easily in the dull lighting of his chamber―or well, Pure Vanilla's chamber more precisely but the days where they spend time together and rested in the same bed had blurred together so much it was hard to tell that he wasn't meant to be there at all.
Or Pure Vanilla kissing Shadow Milk's scars, both new and old. Confirming feelings. An alternative happier conclusion after BY EP 14 than the previous fic "Behind the Stage"

Pure Vanilla gave a gentle nod to White Lily. Then, he turned back to Shadow Milk. His eyes were wet, but had that familiar light; the one that saw the good in everyone.
He was going to give the Beast of Deceit mercy.
Shadow Milk said nothing. Did nothing. His mind pulled away, dropping black fade into the sides of his vision; he couldn't feel the key moving away from his throat, the wall against his back, or the pain throbbing through his dough. He wasn't there at all.
As far as he was aware, someone else's Soul Jam was being taken from their chest.

He rounded the path, entering into a passage that directed him into a large chamber of the cave. Warmer than before and comforting by the sweet smell suffocating the room. Crystals melded into the columns above, glittering in the radiant blue light. Pure Vanilla was in awe, eyes guiding across the ceiling of cave, glimmering like a starlit night.
“Ngn…” A sudden whimper came out from nearby disturbing him from his wonderment. He peered over, eyes suddenly widening as he froze completely, for the source of the light laid only a few feet from him.
Ethereal was the word that came to mind seeing him.

Another little droplet lands on his face, this time on his eyelid, prompting his closed eyes to flutter hesitantly. Finally, he opens his eyes and gives his attacker a curious look. They're.. crying?
Liquid sadness drips down his cheeks, but he still hasn't wiped it off, still hasn't shoved this cookie away from himself. The fount just hangs there, limply, like a puppet with cut strings. Cold resolve and heartbreaking sadness push and pull at the assassin's face like a particularly harsh riptide.
"You deserve this," the cookie grits out angrily, yet despite the harsh glare sent his way, the fount feels as if this cookie is trying to convince himself more than he's trying to convince his victim. "So why..." The assassin breathes, his voice cracking. "Why can't I do this?"OR
Displaced in the timeline, Fortune Teller Cookie immediately tries to cut out the beast of deceit at his roots, before the virtue has the chance to corrupt, and cause so much suffering. Fortune Teller quickly finds that he cannot take an innocent life. When the moment comes, there is no bloodshed, only tears.

Summary
There were no stories that told of what happened when your eyes would meet with the once renowned Keeper Of All Knowledge, their world's very own Sage of Truth. There were no stories because none had lived to tell the tale.
Knowledge Seekers turned to marionettes and their Sage had been abandoned. Abandoned by the ones that gave him fate, who then stripped him of all he held close.
And now, Pure Vanilla, desperate for knowledge he does not hold finds himself at the very same spire doors many had entered, and after the Sages fall all had never exited. But he had pledged his self sacrifice, and so that is what he must fulfill.
…
In simpler words; No one can meet Shadow Milk's eyes after his corruption, as long as your eyes work as intended, that is.
