Ryland Grace has officially lived on Erid for one whole year. Everything's set up to his liking. He has food, a lab, and his best friend who visits him on the daily.
Sure, he's the only human person here. But given his background, he doesn't mind suffering from touch-deprivation. He's safe right where he is.
Well, not for long. Now, there's a new guy. Who's pragmatic and flat when it comes to any form of expression.
That's fine! Grace can deal with that. He has no worries...
And why does Rocky keep trying to push the idea of them dating.----

Ryland Grace lived his whole life wondering why his soulstring stretched out all the way to the sky. It took him a one-way ticket to Tau Ceti, another one-way ticket to Erid, and a special delivery in the form of a bloody submarine to finally learn the answer. It is strange, though, how his soulmate never seems to address their soul string but has a habit of staring deep into his eyes.
AKA; A soulmate AU where Simon arrives on Erid five years after Grace did. The two of them learn how to heal from the past and feel excitement for a future they never expected to have.

Simon didn’t expect his savior to be exactly his type.
What a welcome sight. Even if this stupidly handsome man ends up being evil, or working for the C.O.I, at least he’d die looking at something good.

Summary
It should be a coffin. Even if this submarine-thing was lead-lined, it should be a death sentence. But there is a heartbeat. There’s a life force inside and it is human.
Miraculously, impossibly human.Less than a year after Grace has landed on Erid; they find a ship. Broken and beaten and left for dead on a moon covered in strange oceans, came a heartbeat. A human. Who they bring back to the only other person for light years. Hopefully the stranger survives.
Grace swears they will.A yap fest, let me warn you: it’ll get worse before it gets better. But it WILL get better. Updates will come as they do

Rocky didn’t understand it- of course, how could he? As much time as he spent with Grace, humans were complicated. Their emotions especially so.
And Rocky had only ever interacted directly with one human, after all.
But... Grace wasn't happy.
They'd found another human!“Why Grace scared? Question,” Rocky chirped, confused. “New human friend for Grace- thought Grace would be happy.”
Swallowing, feeling a lump in his throat, Grace pushed himself back up to stand. “Sorry,” he said again, smiling bitterly. “I guess I should be happy, but… I’m just thinking of all the reasons Earth would send more humans out into space- and most of them aren’t good ones.”

OR: Grace isn't happy when the Eridians announce they've found a new human. Not at all. He liked his life alone. He didn't want to deal with any more drama from Earth!
This new human meant shattering the peaceful little life he had built for himself.
Meeting Simon completely upends Grace's day-to-day routine.
