“Why are you telling me all of this?”
“Well, part of it is for administrative reasons,” Varka admits. “But part of it is because, well…” He sighs, leaning back in the plush backing of his chair. “I’ve never had a son of my own, but you’re the closest thing I’ve got to one.”
Kaeya blinks, not entirely sure how to process such a statement. It’s not that he doesn’t believe it to be true—the fact of the matter is that ever since the night Crepus Ragnvindr died, Varka had taken Kaeya under his wing, given him a place to live, and more or less done all the other little things a parent might do for his child. And still, to hear it admitted aloud is quite a strange thing.
“What do I do now?” he asks, more to himself than anything else. “I have nowhere else to go.”

“That doesn’t matter!” Diluc shook his head. “I – I should have reacted better. I shouldn’t have even thought of raising my blade, of using my Vision, Archons Kaeya.”
“It’s okay.” Kaeya was quick to say. “I – it’s fine.”
“It really isn’t.”
“I’m telling you it is. It’s… it’s been years. Forget it.” Kaeya twisted himself out of Diluc’s grip and finished his drink. “It’s been years.” He repeated, sounding choked.

Summary
James' job as a nurse leaves him overworked and permanently tired, but he doesn't mind. It lets him ignore both his grief for his parents and the strange little things happening in his tiny London flat. But then one night after he loses the last connection to his parents, a man suddenly sits in his only kitchen chair and James can't ignore the strange little things any longer – there is a ghost in his flat.
Sirius died there in the 80s. It was ruled a suicide, but even if he has no memories of that day, Sirius is very sure it was murder. So there's only one thing to do.
With the help of his true crime obsessed neighbour Lily, barista and unhappy medium Remus, and emotional support baker Peter, James tries to figure out what truly happened to Sirius, since it's the only way to help a ghost move on. But the more time James spends with these people, the more he realizes there is a difference between living and existing.
And the more time James spends with Sirius, the more he doesn't want him to leave at all.
