Summary
When Thorin dies in Bilbo's arms, Bilbo decides to retreat back to the Shire and leave his new life behind in the hopes of pretending none of this ever happened. Unfortunately, Bilbo is pregnant, and he never got around to telling anyone in the chaos of Thorin's madness. He finds that the Shire is far different than he remembers, or perhaps he has changed more than he thought, and raising a baby on his own while he has become something of a pariah is harder than he expected.
