How would Kon mark his life? One line at the bottom of a test tube: "Experiment 13, age one day"; another on a broken shard of glass: "Superman, age one month". One on the doorjamb of the compound in Hawaii; one in Cadmus; one in his apartment in Suicide Slum. Never staying anywhere long enough to make a home, never staying put to settle in. No real family. Just people who wanted him enough to let him hang around for a bit, until they got tired of him.

Conner waves a hand. “Was with Tim. It gets fuzzy after that.” He sighs, pulling his eyes open to stare at him blearily. “Oklahoma?”
“Oklahoma,” Clark confirms, and decides it’s safe to approach now. There are three cows sitting around him, and they blink at him with the same kind of I-guess-this-is-happening confusion as Conner. “At least you found some friends.”
