Summary
Dally dusted off his leather jacket, leaning forward and eyeing all the fine broads who were there. Suddenly, one certain girl drew his attention towards her.
Cherry Valance. She stood out, displaying her shiny red hair and entrancing smile. The girl was talking and laughing with a group of friends, her projective voice standing out to Dally more than ever.
Dally nearly fell out of his seat upon seeing her, somehow stumbling over his feet although he was sitting down.
“Dally? You havin’ a seizure, or something?” Ponyboy leaned over and tapped him on the shoulder, until he saw Cherry in the corner of his eye and the realization hit.
OR
Dally and Cherry realize how they really feel about each other in an alleyway behind the drive-in.

“So… real quiet in here, huh?” Pony asked, putting his fork down with a loud clink. He wiped the spaghetti sauce off of his face, waiting for an answer.
“Yeah, you’re right.” Darry raised an eyebrow, giving Ponyboy a look before they both turned to look at Soda. “…Sodapop, got anything on your mind?”
Soda’s heart dropped straight down to his stomach. “N— no? Why’re you askin’ me?” He strained, fighting the urge to kick Steve from under the table.
OR
Steve gives Soda a favor from underneath the table while he’s eating dinner with his family.

Summary
It was almost like he had blacked out for a moment, only returning back to consciousness when Steve snapped his fingers in his face.
“Soda, you good there, man?” Steve asked, still without a shirt. His jeans remained on, since only a small bit of the alcohol had gotten on them.
Soda’s face formed a pink hue across his cheeks, clearly embarrassed although he was drunk. “Yeah. Just zoned out for a moment…”
“Y’sure about that? ‘Cause I’m pretty sure you were lookin’ at something else.”
Soda paused, a bit more aware now. He hadn’t realized that Steve noticed him staring.
OR
Steve convinces Soda to get wasted at a party for the first time, except the both of them end up getting a bit too carried away.

Johnny sighed. It was clear he still felt guilty, and he wasn’t going to just allow me to drown in my dreadfulness. “Look, Pony. Let me make it up to you.” He pushed off the wall so I could see his face clearly.
I cocked an eyebrow. “What’dya mean by that?” There was no way Johnny could ever make me feel better about having to cut my hair short. He could probably give me a few bucks or buy me a pack of cigarettes, but it’d still take months for my hair to grow back the way I like it.

Johnny tries to make it up to his best friend after having to cut his hair, just not in the way Ponyboy would’ve ever expected.

Summary
An unexpected customer rolls up to the DX, and it's a blindsided hit. Sodapop's life is no longer as carefree as he was used to, and he didn't have a clue where to start to get his freedom back.
What was he supposed to do when his confidence was destroyed? How could he continue to go outside and live when everyone had motives, and most of them weren't good? Maybe he was paranoid, but could anyone blame him?
His saving graces were his brothers and the gang. There were people he trusted surrounding him, and maybe they would know how to help him better than he could help himself.
