Keith watched with rapt attention as he twirled the vine around his fingers, released his grip, then repeated. He did it mindlessly, still glaring between his computer and notebooks like he was deciphering a different language. Keith was sure that if smoke could be coming out of his ears, there would be.
Loverboy (God, he needed to learn this man’s real name) had been different the moment he had stepped into the coffee shop. While most people who required coffee each day tended to have a bit of a resting bitch face, Loverboy had always walked in with a smile. (And he was always flirting, especially with Keith. If Keith had nickel for every pickup line he had received from the rather flamboyant man, he’d pay off his apartment lease. The very first time Keith ever took his order, Keith had been told to “write his number on the cup like in one of those Hallmark movies.” Needless to say, Keith had written In your dreams, Loverboy.) Day or night, rain or shine, he had way too much confidence and a big ass grin on his face that never seemed to truly leave.

He had thought that the team would stay together, for one. He hadn’t seen Pidge or Lance since that reunion where the lions all left. He saw Hunk and Shiro more recently, but it was still too long ago. He had thought that whatever bond they all formed would just… keep them together. After all they had been through.
He had also thought he and Lance would… keep going. Like, after everything? They had done so much and had fought for so long together. Lance did have his thing with Allura, but if anything, Keith thought that would’ve pushed Lance to want to jump back into the whole space thing more. To keep her memory alive.
So when Keith was asked to lead the Blade of Marmora, he accepted, naturally assuming Lance would… want to come too.
But Keith had been wrong.
It’s fine. He was long over that.

Despite this being an advanced level biology class, this was still the basics for Peter. It wasn’t common for someone to know enough to be able to bullshit their way through a response like Peter can, especially about biology. Having literally had his DNA altered by a radioactive spider, could you really blame him for taking an interest in the subject? Physics would always be number one for Peter, but still.
Who was she? He didn’t even know her name.
As if on cue, like Ned often seems to be, Peter’s question was answered as the boy whispered, “I think MJ called her Gwen.”
Peter chewed on the end of his pen as he mulled over the last five minutes of his life, history homework long forgotten.
