Except the softness never came. Instead, something hit him square in the forehead. Hard. His arms snapped up automatically, catching himself. What—
Bread. A loaf of bread, steaming as it landed in front of him. It was deep brown around the edges, like it had just come out of the oven.
“Here.” A low voice cut through the ringing in his ears. “Starving’s pathetic. Take it.”

Summary
In more bad news for proponents of rational decision-making everywhere, Uchiha Obito has adopted Uzushiogakure's least functional fūinjutsu research project, dead set on pulling off the previously unthinkable: time travel.
He does, unfortunately, succeed.
Using the seven year old Kyūbi jinchūriki as a battery pack, Obito accidentally strands himself (and an unknown number of gate-crasher tagalongs) in that bygone era of proud shinobi clans still locked in their bitter, bloody feuding, tailed beasts yet unchained. Konoha doesn't exist here—and if Obito has something to say about it, then it never, ever will.
What he doesn't factor into his new and improved Infinite Tsukuyomi plans: the indomitable will of Uzumaki Naruto, a handful of overly nosy Anbu agents, and the draconian private agenda of a certain eye-stealing councilman.
As might be expected, everything goes to shit.

“Toru… Can you ask again tomorrow?” Obito drawls, his eyes feel so heavy and it’s become so difficult to just talk. “‘M tired…”
“Promise you’ll wake up?” Satoru asks, voice trembling.
“Hn..” Obito tries to nod, his head spins instead. “I’ll wake up.”
“I don’t trust you, Tobi.” Satoru spoke the words for the first time.
“If I don’t, you can ask me more…”
“I’ll keep asking.”
“That’s fine, Toru…”
Obito’s eyes shut, giving in to that deep sleep.
Satoru’s grip tightened as he watched his brother, blue eyes glowing in use.
“Don’t die, Obito.”

Obito gets reborn and learn how to be a brother to someone viewed as the strongest weapon for the world. Unbeknownst to him, more complicated issues come with being reborn as Satoru’s brother. Someone comes along for the ride.

Summary
After losing all of his precious people, Kakashi's life has no goals left to aim for in the future. He currently feels more like a weapon than a real person and is slowly sinking into a deep fog of apathy that he refuses to acknowledge exists. Or deal with.
But whatever, Kakashi expected nothing more than to die as a useful shinobi for his Village until one day the Ghost Obito stops being an imaginary specter and becomes a real person and live, and that changed everything.
