Summary
Connor was envious of Markus. Markus was a good person. Even if Connor let himself live, he doesn't think any amount of good deeds could ever wash away the blood caked on his hands. He could go out knowing he deserved this. He wasn't needed anymore he did a good job, he’d turned the tides of the revolution that was all he was supposed to do. His mission is over, he has no importance anymore. No one wanted a useless robot after all.
He didn't want to go out without apologising. Apologies wouldn't bring back the lives he’d taken, apologies wouldn't solve anything but maybe they’d show he tried. He didn’t mean to lead the humans to Jericho.

Basically Connor turning the gun on himself after escaping Amanda's control with all Jericho leaders still alive and a successful revolution based off his suicide ending.

He really hadn't been. Not a hero, not even a very good detective. If he had just realised what had been missing in his calculations, what was off about it all... Instead, here he was, damaged and covering the seat of Hank's car with blue blood.
