Stuck in his cabin during a three-day snow storm, Elliott has a lot of time to think about his first year in Pelican Town.

On the first day of the storm, Elliott had been delighted. After all, it wasn't until he'd moved to Pelican Town that he'd really experienced a traditional winter. Oh sure, his hometown would occasionally get a dusting of snow, just enough to provide a picturesque landscape for half a day before it was reduced to slush and ice, but it was nothing like he'd seen in Pelican Town when the season had changed from Fall to Winter. And even though all the Pelican Townees (Townites? Towners? Townsonians? Elliott had not yet been able to determine the correct collective name for the residents of his new home) had warned him that he hadn't seen a 'real' storm yet, he'd thought they surely must be exaggerating.
He'd been mistaken.

Summary
