Whichever one it was, it didn’t matter, because you were leaving it behind for good.
Well, you would be, if the past didn’t like to cling to you like an annoying bug.

Summary
Memories are the oddest concept to you.
For all you knew, you’ve lived in this void for forever and a half.
You were a stark being of darkness in a world of pure light, eyes burning every time you opened them— which you rarely did in the first place.
However, there were still those inexplicable memories, always lingering in the back of your mind.
A towering building. A cutesy wooden sign. People with blurry faces passing by. A couch on the side of the road. A small pizza place around the corner.
Taking classes. Getting drinks with your friends. Buying a new book or two. Taking a nap in a comfortable bed.Staring at yourself in the mirror, your exhausted eyes glaring back.
A broken mirror on the floor.
So, like how any reasonable person teetering on the edge of sanity would, you replicated that world to the best of your ability.
And also like a totally, completely sane person, you ended up getting bored of even that every now and then.
A nap sounds nice, doesn’t it?

(yes very stereotypical name i realize this. it’ll probably change at some point)
Sun and Moon are two variants of an alien species officially known as Astralids.
Originally, they were brought in to be studied. Observed. Their planet wasn’t the most hospitable for humans, so what better idea than to bring them back to earth and look over them there?
Then it was discovered that Astralids were becoming increasingly scarce on their home planet, so the researchers decide to start a breeding program.
However, there haven’t been any offspring produced since.
Assuming it was because the Solarian and Lunarian variants weren’t compatible with each other, researchers brought in a second specimen of each variant and let them bond.
Wanna guess how successful that was?

By now, you’re used to them becoming attached to you in one way or another, being one of the main handlers and caretakers for a majority of the mers there, and you know exactly how to approach being courted by them.
Your coworker Chrystal is also used to mers becoming attached to you. However, she thinks it’s funny to watch as your mers tried to court you without any real success.
