    Award shows are always bustling with behind-the-scenes activity to maintain their appearance of grand prestige. Part of this operation includes hiring seat fillers to keep the audience looking packed when the camera pans to the crowd. Need a quick bathroom break or get called away on a mission mid-award ceremony? No worries, the event coordinator has someone on standby. In Katsuki’s case, the irritating bastard assigned to sit next to him is filling in for his boss, A-List Pro Hero Best Jeanist, who has other priorities—and better connections—to keep his seat attended for the entirety of the event.

    Cue each year of Katsuki learning more about the stranger he’s nicknamed Deku and even finding himself looking forward to their brief encounters. When the hero fanatic doesn’t appear one year, Katsuki is forced to realize he never learned the most important fact about Deku: his real name.
