“The Royals Rumble has ended up with one clear winner - Ottawa snagged both Jaysen Caulfield and Mickey James III in a trade that involved shipping star winger Brady Tkachuk to the Panthers. Both prospects have elite puck handling, hockey sense, and creative skating, and have elevated each other as linemates on the Royals this season. This should be a clear A+, but several questions plague the decision to move Tkachuk. There’s no guarantee the chemistry between Caulfield and James will be replicated in the pros, not to mention the injury risks. Caulfield has a major injury history and James is so tiny that spending a season on LTIR after getting trampled seems inevitable unless he puts on 40 extra pounds of muscle. It’s high reward, with both prospects having elite talent ceilings, but the risk on top of losing the stability of Tkachuk to a competitor in the same division is massive."

The hours leading up to the draft announcement were excruciating. Anticipation made Jaysen’s body feel like it was vibrating, culminating in his left leg jumping up and down, probably deeply annoying whoever had the misfortune to sit in front of him. With a bus full of NHL prospects on their way to the draft, however, any nerves were to be expected. As the curve of Ball Arena moved into view, Jaysen pulled out his phone, shooting Mickey a text.

“Vibrator!?” Shane asks shocked laughter bleeding into his voice.
“Yes, the vibrator.” He says like he’s testing the word out.
He barks out a choked laugh “NO! It doesn’t have a vibrator.”
“Is pink though? And glittery tell me please glittery?” his accent rolling the r's in that way that drives Shane crazy.
Shane groans through his next words, his clean hand scrubbing down his face muffling his voice a bit “I thought black was more, discreet."
“Ugghh, Hollander you are so boring, mine is at least green.”
Or: Shane finds out Ilya has a green vibrator, loses his mind over it, and considers the merits of being verse for the first time. -
