Summary
Sokka waits, weighing the pros and cons of chancing stepping out into the lantern lit street once more, and ultimately deciding against it. He turns instead to head back down the alley, twisting his way around the narrowly cleared path filled with empty sacks and crates, and nearly falls flat on his face when his foot catches on something he tries to step over at the same time it tries to jolt away.
Still, he is shocked enough to go wheeling forward, and his bag of carefully procured supplies goes tumbling free to scatter all over the ground as he catches himself. “What the-?”
But the moment his eyes catch it, he is frozen to the spot.
The leg he had fallen over, being pulled beneath a body.
And there is a moment of icy dread, fear instant and instinctual before he can stop it but the sight of shredded clothing, of bruising, of the unfocused gold of a pair of eyes attempting to make sense of him, has a different concern immediately taking over. “Zuko?”

Summary
Connor knew he wasn’t particularly good at things. He failed Amanda, failed Markus…and now he was failing at deviancy as well. Perhaps he was better off being a machine. Even Hank was bound to become fed up of him at some point. He expected it, but he hadn’t anticipated the pain that would accompany it. He supposed he deserved it.
His voice became louder, harsher, colder with every word. The more he spoke the more disoriented he got, and the more lost in memories of Cole- crash, hospital, androids, death- he became. Androids. androids causing problems in his life. Always ruining anything good he could possibly have in his life. How could he have forgotten? Looking at Connor now, seeing the yellow-red light spinning on his temple, he didn’t know how he ever saw a person in someone so obviously…synthetic. Mechanical. Always sat with an unnaturally straight posture, speaking like an awkward fucking thesaurus, never understanding jokes, expression never changing except for an uncomfortable, wonky smile that didn’t suit his face at all.

Charles sighed, ignoring Arthur’s furious muttering in favor of continuing to guide both of their horses toward the tiny cabin that stood at the far northwestern end of Lake Isabella.
Arthur needed help quickly, he knew; he was soaked through, and even with Charles's heavy coat now draped over him instead of his own sodden one, the bitter cold could easily kill him if he didn’t get warm and dry soon. But considering Arthur still had energy enough to hiss and spit like a hungry cougar guarding its kill, Charles reckoned he wasn't likely to be knocking on death's door before they reached it."
