After Fiyero sacrifices himself, Elphaba races to Kiamo Ko to save his life. Overwhelmed and convinced she failed, she suffers a mental breakdown, entering a state of catatonia. When the Witch Hunters arrive at the castle, the person they find is nothing like the witch they expect.
Now the unlikely companions must work together to figure out how to bring Elphaba back to them – and herself – before someone else figures out where they’re hiding.
Also Dorothy needs to get home.

Which isn’t a lot, but it’s not great that it happened twice. But given how he was in school, perhaps we shouldn't have been surprised. A Shiz-Era rom-com staring a short-sighted Fiyero and an Elphaba who runs away a lot.

“Sit behind me,” Elphaba instructs, gesturing to her broom. She expects hesitation, expects that Fiyero will question his own safety, or the prudence of being in close proximity to the Witch. She half expects that he will come to his senses and change his mind entirely, find a way to return to the charmed Palace life he’s been leading.
Instead he does exactly as told, the broom dipping only slightly before the magic adjusts to accommodate his added weight. “Can I hold onto you?”
“Probably should, if you don’t want to fall off,” she agrees, catching her breath when he immediately wraps both arms around her waist.
“Go,” he says firmly, close enough that his breath tickles her ear.
