It had been an odd request, especially coming from Hades’ nephew. He asked him to consider allowing Castellan rebirth, asked him to allow him to wait for it. Hades had not received a request like this in a very long time, if ever, and found himself curious.
Hades didn’t do the weighing of souls himself, usually left it to the Council, but in this case, he found his curiosity leading him to find the boy. When he found him, he was not surprised to find him looking younger—most subconsciously chose to look like themselves at the happiest times of their lives—but the Camp Half-Blood shirt…
That was interesting.
Luke Castellan did not speak to him, did not beg or whimper or scream. His hands shook, but he looked him in the eye, eyes dim with resignation. Looking into his mind, he found the certainty that he would spend the rest of his existence in the fields of punishment, but beyond that was a yearning sort of pain. Hades nudged further and found a memory, found Perseus Jackson.
