Summary
Every year within the Dwendalian Empire, one of the biggest events on the calender is The Annual Dance. An extravagant night in which the richest and most powerful couples in the Empire and the rest of Wildemount are able to mingle, broker deals, catch up on gossip, and dance the night away, with the best couple receiving a special prize.
Beau had thought her days of going to the Annual Dance were over, but when a mission from the Cobalt Soul gets them two invitations, she finds herself and Jester being assigned to infiltrate the dance, to serve as a distraction while the rest of the Nein get up to the real shady business.
This would be fine, except to make a distraction they have to compete to be the best dancers. Which means pretending to be a couple. A couple in love. Beau is in love with Jester. Jester is in love with Beau. Neither of them has told the other yet. This whole night would be a lot simpler if they did.

This was typically the part where Rumi would be expected to introduce herself, but she didn't seem to give a flying fuck about what was expected of her if the way she still just stared even as Celine cleared her throat pointedly said anything.

Rumi squinted between them and the bag. "Why."
"Because as much as you don't seem to like us, we like you just fine."

"Well, come on. Aren't you going to bite somebody with those big sharp teeth of yours?" Mira prompted again with a raised brow, shaking Zoey's arm slightly, as if genuinely trying to entice Rumi to take a bite.
Instead of taking the proffered bait, Rumi turned her head away with a strong air of ‘well now I don't want to.'
"Thought so." Mira drawled, unimpressed. "Now how about you let us help you inside?"

They've cleared up the leftover demons in Seoul, the Rainbow Honmoon seems to be really working out, and their three month hiatus is over. Things in Rumi's life are going pretty good. What better way to get back into the swing of things than a mini tour?
Now if only she could work out why Mira and Zoey are being so weird about wanting to kiss her.

Mira tugs gently at the hair beneath her fingers. "Uh uh, princess, you have to get up. We're not sleeping on the couch tonight."
"Why not?" Rumi whines, flipping over again so she can tuck her face against Zoey's tummy this time. "S'comfy."
Zoey looks at Mira helplessly, cheeks flushing at the apples because she still flusters under Rumi's attention despite reaching for it eagerly with both hands. Her hand runs down Rumi's shoulder and her brows flex together like she might agree just because Rumi wants it.
"No," Mira says both to her and Rumi, her lips twitching into a fond little smile. "We have a king sized bed for a reason."
But Rumi is insistent as she burrows deeper into Zoey's middle. It's a new trait to her lately—the petulance and borderline bratty behavior, the no's with huge shit eating grins, the definite 'rage baiting' like Zoey likes to call it—and Mira will never admit it out loud but she is in love with the new shade in the same way she is with the whirling patterns.
Or, Rumi is lowkey highkey a brat and they love her anyway

“A-Ah… Zoey… mhmmphm…” Desperation paints Rumi’s tone as a hitching whimper crawls out of her throat. The sound warbles in the air, curling with high pitchy notes as flustered pleasure shudders its way through Rumi’s body.
“You’re so cute, unnie. Who knew how sensitive your horns were… Is this why you always hesitate in letting us touch them?” Playful curiosity unfurls across Zoey’s face as she peers down at Rumi, a gentle sheen of adoration and arousal shimmering in her eyes as she does so. It complements the constellation of freckles scattered across Zoey’s cheeks, her nose bridge, and Rumi’s throat goes dry as she admires how utterly pretty Zoey effortlessly is.
Rumi’s throat goes dry for another reason: Zoey maintains a slow pace, measured strokes along the length of those curved horns, cataloguing every reaction Rumi makes, mentally noting the locations that has her lover shivering or whining viscerally. The slow pace makes Rumi feel even more flustered, squirming from her lover’s undivided attention.

'She said,' Zoey translates again, seeming delighted to be the conveyor of good news, 'that it was fine! When you asked her to come inside of you,' she adds, in case Mira had forgotten.
She hadn't.
And neither had the rest of her body, which gives another delicious full-body shiver at the thought.

Summary
Four teams, one Tournament - with everything to play for.
When Rumi gets the chance to make amends with her childhood best-friend-turned-rival, Zoey, she jumps at it with both hands. If the intimidating Lieutenant Mira Kang is part of that deal, well, Rumi can live with that. Especially when Kang's got a plan that Rumi thinks could turn this whole damn system on its head.
But as Rumi knows all too well, good things don't last. Zoey and Mira aren't out to change the world; they're out to save Rumi.
Rumi has no interest in being saved, if she can't bring her people with her. She'll die down here in the dirt before she leaves them behind.

Summary

Ranger Ryu Rumi, former pilot of the legendary Mark IV jaeger Demon Song and a survivor of the Jaeger Program's golden age, before everything went wrong and the war turned against them, has paid that price. Once the pride of the Shatterdome, now she's scarred and alone, and the sheer weight of the loss has her resigned to that fate.
So failed cadets Mira and Zoey, humanity’s last hope, have no place in her lonely world. But with the Breach growing more active again, Rumi is forced to return to the Shatterdome to teach them how to love what she lost, and to hold on to each other harder than anyone outside of the Drift ever could.
But the Drift is a tricky thing, it calls to the heart and soul, so they start to want to hold on to her too, even as she tries to stay away. Because the Drift already ruined her once, and she doesn't have the strength to risk it happening again.
