After the events of Episode 7, the first opportunity Zooble gets, they tackle Caine and put him in a headlock.
Zooble knows damn well that the only thing holding Caine back is the fact that he likes the group, and even as they do it, they know that a player attacking the all-powerful administrator AI is probably not going to end well.
But oddly enough, Caine just-... lets it happen.

Summary
Technically they won the battle, driving out the intruders and gathering what they’ve needed for future rations.
But he feels it now, the folly of attachment in the back of his head that would always ache and fester. Perhaps he did not know her as well as a friend might, a mentor beyond his years and an apprentice who would be a blip in his lifespan in the grander scheme of things. But once more he must remind himself he is no god, and he experiences attachment all the same.
His face remains a mystery, to the people of the stronghold and even himself, but he feels what must be his eyes faintly sting as Salt Cellar’s limp body is carried on the back of Nox Black Salt all the way home.

But ever since she was young Lord Commander has not struck her as her equal, even as she's grown used to his presence and more dedicated to his cause. She of course will never say it to his face, it is that presence which has given her purpose.
