Summary
Pete "Maverick" Mitchell and his bonded dragon Iceman were the last two Admiral Beau Simpson wanted on this detachment. They had been relieved of their teaching position at STRIKE years ago for being far too reckless. But with the mission that just dropped in his lap, he needs someone reckless to teach the next generation of riders.
He knows the navy is going to lose both dragons and riders in this mission, and he knows that Maverick and Ice may be the only ones that can show the young ones how to fly it.
But he sure as hell doesn't have to like it.

Summary
Rooster noticed him first. His eyes got impossibly wide and he choked on his beer. Hangman smacked him on the back a few times, giving him a look. Coyote followed Rooster’s gaze and tried to stand up, jostling the table and making everyone’s beer rattle.
“Holy shit, Admiral Simpson!” Coyote said, trying to salute. Halo and Harvard leapt to their feet, spinning to face him. The rest of the pilots were scrambling, clearly unsure what to do. His eyes flicked to Pete, and he was glad to see the smile looked a little more real.
“You own civilian clothes, sir?” Hangman said after a moment, looking him up and down. Beau knew he looked good, that dark red henley open just enough to show a hint of chest hair, dark wash jeans, and his bomber jacket.
“Oh my god, Hangman, you can’t ask an admiral if they own civvies!” Phoenix hissed.
“I mean, I kind of just assumed he popped out of the womb in working khakis, you know?” Hangman said. “Uh, sorry, sir.”

Beau and Pete have been married for years. Beau is tired of hiding it, and it comes out at The Hard Deck, a week after the mission.

Summary
Hangman and Rooster were walking back to the TOPGUN building when they came across the one thing they never, ever expected to see.
Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, pinned against the wall by Admiral Simpson, looking for all the world like he was trying to crawl inside the admiral via his mouth.
Hangman didn't really want to see Admiral Simpson's dick, but he's not really complaining about it.

Hangman and Rooster run into Maverick and Cyclone getting busy in a place they shouldn't. Jake is wildly turned on. Rooster is horrified.

Maybe there was a part of him that was jealous of the fact that Mitchell was still a captain, that he still got to fly.
And holy shit, could the man fly.
Intellectually, of course, he’d known that. Of course Captain Mitchell could fly. He was a graduate of the Navy Fighter Weapons School. He was the first Ace since 1972, and had done in it a stolen enemy Tomcat.
He had been enraged after Mitchell had stolen that fighter jet and flown the pattern, but god damn, it had been amazing to watch.
Cyclone was grateful that the pilots and Warlock had been so distracted by Maverick’s insane flight that they hadn’t realized he was half hard. That had been the first time he realized he had a problem.
He wasn’t sure if he wanted to punch that smile off Maverick’s face, or taste it.
