And so, every morning Jayce wakes before his alarm. He checks in on Viktor to make sure he's still sleeping and starts his day just like any other. Brushes his teeth, brews a coffee, reads the newspaper and scoffs at the council's statement column. He makes Viktor a sweet milk and takes it to him, tries to wake him up with a soft peck to the cheek and lightly smacks the side of his face when it doesn't do the trick.

Jayce Talis is the owner of Talis Cattle Company, which is currently driving their entire herd of cattle from San Antonio to Fort Smith, Arkansas. On the way, he and his cattlehands stop in Waco, Texas to restock provisions, conduct business, and prepare for the final stretch of their journey.
