    Summary

Technically, he doesn’t know this is Mike’s daughter, because she hasn’t even spoken yet. Also because the last time he saw her she was a two-year-old in a picture Mike had in his wallet. So he has an obligation to act normal, because even if it is her, she’s obviously not here to sell Girl Scout cookies if her panicked expression is anything to go by.

Or: Mike has been avoiding Will’s calls for fifteen years. When his daughter shows up at Will’s apartment with a box full of letters, Will finds out why.

Abi is drawing when Emma finds her--and drawing Emma, at that. After she sees it, Emma insists on Abi letting her try her hand at drawing her. It... doesn't work out. But it DOES lead to other, better things. Things Abi has been fantasizing about since camp started.

" “He couldn’t have waited like… ten more minutes?” Emma asked as they walked, following the trail that had become familiar to them.

“What would have happened in ten more minutes?” Abi asked.

Emma flashed her a wicked grin. “Wouldn’t you like to know?”

Abi’s throat felt tight. Emma laughed and squeezed Abi’s hand, pulling her in so that she could kiss her again. This time, she kissed her on the jaw. And this time, before she pulled away, she let her teeth scrape the skin in a playful nip. A jolt of something hot and electric shot through Abi and she stumbled over her own feet. " UUUAAAAADJSBSKHSJKAH THEY'RE MY EVERYTHING!!!!!

There's so many cute scenes and dialogue in this. The dad jokes, Emma's horrendous (but cute) portrait drawing, the vulnerable moments of reassurance, the "I'd like to show you off to my parents" talk, the kissing,,,, EEEEKKKKK it's so soft and intimate (╥﹏╥). It really captures just how sweet their dynamic can be hehe🤭🤭

The type of fic you know is made with love, like back when you were a little kid coming home from a long day of school, only to be welcomed by the delicious smell of your mom boiling your favorite soup, if that makes sense. Very sweet :(((((( <3

Miya loves ghost stories more than anything in the world. But he never thought he would meet an overly excited one by the apricot tree next to the park near their school. Nor would he have expected to be dragged around to find a man with beautiful eyes and hair as soft as snow just because the boy ghost sparks a curiosity in him that distracted him from his own loneliness.

    Bookmarker's Notes

This was my first ever AO3 fic.

I remember it so vividly, sitting in the bus on my way to my 7th grade class, putting in my email into the website’s database all in the hopes of somehow storing this fic somewhere and not losing it, as it took me a couple of days to finish and I had a bad habit of accidentally deleting my tabs. I also had zero clue how to use AO3, so I freaked out every time I came back to read, and my progress wouldn't save.

Anyways, when I did end up finishing reading it, I sobbed so hard I nearly threw up (which is 100% a compliment). I am not exaggerating when I say it altered my brain chemistry. I cried and cried and reread it and cried again until my cheeks were splotchy red and my pillowcase was submerged in a concerning amount of wet tears. I thought about this fic forever. At school, at home, at the hair salon I went to on my 13th birthday, where the lady fucked up and accidentally gave me a bowlcut (I cried for 2 reasons that day)...you get the point. But eventually, I moved on from the sk8 fandom—and as a result, moved on from this fic as well.

Now, here I am at 17 once again rereading this fic and crying as I type this (albeit not on the brink of throwing up, so at least that’s an improvement). It truly did stand the test of time and is still just as gut-wrenching as ever. The star-crossed lovers trope will never *not* get me. I love the way all the characters are beautifully woven into this, as well as the dynamic between Reki and Langa, and who can forget about the slow build-up reveal as to what actually happened that day to get Reki to end up where he is now. It’s tragic in every way, yet still manages to have some semblance of humor and solace. Truly a beautiful and bittersweet read.
