While Ilya is working through his feelings, it's very light on the angst. No fighting between them just cuteness.

And deep down, Ilya knows how Comeau figured it out. It's what he's been worried about since the cottage.
He can no longer hide the way he looks at Shane.
He'd tried so carefully to school his features into something indifferent. Ilya has always been proud of how stoic and neutral he can make his features. He considers it his Slavic superpower.
But then Shane had made a pass to Comeau that was so fucking quick and brilliant that Ilya hadn't even seen it coming. He'd glanced over to look at Shane and he had felt so much love and admiration towards his boyfriend at that moment. It had taken him a beat or two to replace it with a look of indifference.
Or, Ilya accidentally outs his and Shane's relationship to their teams after he kicks Comeau's ass on the ice because he insults Shane. Both men spend a few days together in domestic bliss while they figure out how to navigate the situation. Things escalate quickly. But like... In a loving way.
Alternate timeline where they're not caught by Shane's dad at the cottage.

Summary
The airport looks like it always does. A sea of people oblivious to anything going on around them. Ilya is about to put his headphones over his ears when he sees something so familiar his brain almost doesn't register it. That is until he realizes that he's in fucking Moscow so this doesn't make any sense.
Because right there at the gate, spread out over several chairs, his duffle bag as a pillow, is the figure of Shane Hollander sleeping. The hood of his sweatshirt is up and he's wearing sunglasses, but Ilya would recognize the shape of Shane Hollander anywhere.
“Hollander?” he asks in shock, stepping closer.
Or, Shane shows up in Russia after learning Ilya's father died. Ilya did not ask him to do this. He just showed up. And now Ilya doesn't know what to do with himself. He proceeds to just go with it, and maybe listen to Shane for once.
Another song inspired fic, this time Ever the Same by Rob Thomas which I argue is underrated.

“You're hot when you're jealous,” Ilya grins, humming as Shane kisses and licks his neck.
Ilya’s smell is slightly different than normal. He is wearing his stupid slutty cologne he always wears when he wants to get laid, because he thinks the notes of amber and musk make him smell sexy.
He does smell pretty sexy, admittedly.
“Not jealous. Just horny,” Shane argues, working to unbutton Rozanov's shirt as he continues kissing his neck.
Ilya just responds with a soft moan, clearly delighted by this turn of events.
Basically, a fic inspired by the song Bathwater by No Doubt, which is one of my faves. Ilya and Shane cheat with each other, not on each other, because they're possessive and jealous boys who are menaces and can't stand the idea of the other one being with anyone else. Not angsty.
Also, despite the /original characters tag, it's more of a mention. No long, detailed scenes or smut with those characters.
